Getting FIT for SUMMER!

GoalCrushers2What’s happening! I know, it’s only February, but it’s time to start thinking about getting Fit with the Fellowship for Summer! Yep, starting March 15th we officially launch our Summer challenge group so that you’ll be in the best shape of your life for all of Summer’s awesome activites (aka backyard BBQs, pool parties, vacations, etc.)!  The group will meet in a private Facebook group and we will share our struggles, successes, what to eat, how to eat, motivation, encouragement… you name it and we will do it. This thing is all about you baby! This is your group and it’s time to get after it. We will soley be focusing on Beachbody fitness programs (if you are still looking for an awesome accountability group check out out 2015 – Let’s Get It Challenge which is open to all on my team).

I’ll tell you that I’m sick and tired of setting a goal every year to get ripped by Summer and never getting there. Well, this year it’s happening and I want you to reach and surpass your goals also! So what do I want from you?

1) I don’t want your cash. You don’t have to buy anything to get started. Beg, borrow, whatever you have to do to get a Beachbody program, do it! I’d be glad to point you in the right direction if you need to get something new (my Store). I personally will be continuing on with a Body Beast/ MAX 30 hybrid.

2) I do want your commitment. The best way to get results is to stay consistent day after day hitting your nutritional and workout goals. I want you to stay plugged in and share daily in the Facebook group.

Set Yourself Up for Success in 2015

motivational-fitness-pictures-and-quotes-35It’s no surprise that the most common New Year’s resolutions are health and fitness related.  We all want to be in shape.  We want to be comfortable in our own skin. We want to be around for those that we love for as long as possible. Odds are that, like me, you’ve tried to get fit before, but stopped for some reason or another. No matter what the reason was, I’m sure glad that you’re back because 2015 is going to be your year! Now is the time to get after it. Not a week from now. Not a month from now. But RIGHT NOW!

Getting Started

First, I need to throw this out there. There are NO QUICK FIXES. Quick fixes are designed by people trying to make a quick buck. So save your cash and flush the “quick fix” mentality or else you will be quickly discouraged and give up. Plus, weight loss and getting stronger are not sprints; they’re marathons. Now that we have that pesky business out of the way, here’s some great ways to set yourself up for success in 2015 and beyond.

  1. Make a plan and stick with it. I don’t care whether it is a walking, jogging, running plan, or whether you are doing one of Beachbody’s phenomenal at-home workouts. Just pick a plan and don’t deviate from it. It’s way to easy to get caught up in the latest and greatest program, but stick yours out until the end.
  2. Get and an accountability partner. In my opinion, this step is non-negotiable. Having somebody (or a group) encourage you and keep you on track is essential for lasting success. Plus, it just a heck of a lot of fun to not have to do this alone (because, let’s face it, this is HARD). I don’t care who keeps you accountable, just as long as it is somebody. It can be your family, friends, or even me. I’d be glad to do it! One great way is to plug into a challenge group and we are going to have an amazing one.   3. Eat for your goals. This is probably the most essential step of all.  You cannot out-work a bad diet. Period. If you are trying to lose (as most are) then you simply have to expend more calories in a day than you take in. I personally use a calorie tracker (MyFitnessPal) on my phone that allows me to scan bar codes and, boom, that food is accounted for. For other post on nutrition check “Nutrition 101”.
  4. Have FUN! If it’s not fun then there’s no point in doing it right?

Sure there are many more ways to make sure 2015 is a success, but these are a great starting point. So are you ready? Are you ready to make 2015 count? I hope so!

It’s getting to be that time of year when we all put health and fitness on the back burner for the sake of busy schedules. It doesn’t help that we are bombarded with Holiday treats and parties either. BUT, it doesn’t have to be this way!Picture1

I have always been one for the hardcore workouts like P90X, Insanity, P90X3, and Body Beast. I absolutely love the challenge of pushing myself to the limit, But you can only push to the limit for so long.  I felt completely drained after the last Spartan race and I can tell that I need to start incorporating some type of recovery and mobility type of workout into my routine.  And I think PiYo is just the program to do that.  I know that this type of strength and flexibility program will help to protect my back, shoulders and neck from future injuries.  I’m also really excited to extend my range of motion so that I can make the most out of my other workout (Body Beast). The thing I am most excited about is that I will be doing this program with my beautiful wife Ashley!
